A-Z WAGON STATIONS, ANDREA ZITTEL

For a decade Andrea Zittel has been creating minimal self-sufficient dwellings spaces in which everyday actions such as sleeping or bathing are transformed into acts of art. Their small size allows users to evade building codes, providing the inhabitant for greater freedom and autonomy. Besides, each unit can be customized by its inhabitant. These temporary living shelters reference both the covered wagons of the old western frontier and the standard suburban station wagons of today.

Durante los últimos diez años Andrea Zittel ha estado creando unas unidades de vivienda mínimas autosuficientes, en las que cada acción de la vida cotidiana, como dormir o ducharse, se transforma en una expresión artística. Su pequeño tamaño permite al usuario no tener que prestar atención a normas de construcción, lo que le da mayor autonomía. Además cada unidad se puede personalizar. Estos refugios temporales están inspirados en los antiguos carros del oeste americano así como en las estaciones suburbanas actuales.
