VESSEL, O’DONNELL + TUOMEY

This Irish firm is presenting Vessel at the 2012 Architecture Biennale in Venice. Responding to the brick columns and walls of the Arsenale, this two-storey tall structure made with stacked timber struts forms a contemplative space for visitors to the Biennale. Steps lead into a series of portals which frame diverse views of encompassing background of works by poets, artists and other architects.

La instalación Vessel pertenece al estudio irlandés O’Donnell + Tuomey y ha sido realizada para la Bienal de Arquitectura de Venecia 2012. Dialogando con las columnas y los muros de fábrica del Arsenal, esta estructura de dos plantas de altura está hecha de listones de madera apilados, formando un espacio contemplativo. Desde el interior se pueden contemplar una serie de aberturas que enmarcan determinadas vistas de lo que hay alrededor, ya sean obras de arquitectura, artísticas o trabajos de poetas.
